Will my child be sent to District 75?

Not automatically. An autism classification by itself does not mean District 75.

D75 is one end of a continuum that starts with general education. The IEP team — which includes you — decides where on that continuum your child belongs, and the least restrictive appropriate option comes first.

Do this week

  1. Ask which point on the continuum is being proposed for your child, and what the reason is.
  2. Ask for the answer in writing.
  3. If you want a second read on it, call INCLUDEnyc or Advocates for Children of New York. Both are free.
