Do I earn too much to qualify for state help?
Probably not. For a child living at home seeking HCBS Waiver enrollment, parental income is not counted.
Families rule themselves out of years of support based on an assumption nobody ever corrected. If you have never applied because you assumed your salary disqualified your child, that assumption is worth checking with the OPWDD Front Door.
Do this week
- Start the OPWDD Front Door process. For a child living at home seeking enrollment in the HCBS Waiver, parental income and resources are not considered.
- Check whether your child's psychological evaluation includes adaptive behavior testing. If it does not, ask the evaluator to add it.
- Contact your regional office and ask when the next Front Door information session is.
