Can I bring someone with me to the meeting?

Yes. You can bring anyone you want — a friend, a relative, an advocate.

You do not need permission and you do not need to explain who they are. Many parents find that having a second person taking notes changes how the meeting goes.

Do this week

  1. Decide this week who is coming with you, not the night before.
  2. Tell the school in writing who will attend with you.
  3. If you need an interpreter, ask at least 72 hours before the meeting, in writing.
