Money

The IEP says speech twice a week and it isn't happening.

Ask about an RSA before you start paying for it yourself.

When the district can't staff a service your child's IEP mandates, it can issue a Related Services Authorization — a voucher letting you find an independent provider at DOE expense. Ask your school's IEP team or your CSE office.

Do this week

  1. Write down what the IEP says: which service, how many times a week, and for how long.
  2. Write down what has actually happened, with dates. A short list is enough.
  3. Send both to the IEP team in writing and ask what the plan is. Ask them about a Related Services Authorization.
  4. If the answer does not come, call Advocates for Children of New York.
